Learning Disabilities have often been referred to as the "hidden" handicap. Students who experience these difficulties are often looked at as being "slow", lazy or just not "willing to try". They are often repeated failures, such that, by the time they arrive at college level, they view themselves as incapable of learning and no longer want to try. Repeated failure has beaten them down. Not all students learn in the same way. Some students are very strong readers and some are strong mathematicians. Others are strong visual learners while others learn best when they experience the learning.
It is hard to determine which is the better way to learn. If a person is stranded on a road in a car that is not starting, the visual learning who is good with his hands and can fix the car is a far preferable companion. However, in today's world, with the increasing emphasis placed on the ability to read, the issue of learning disabilities is becoming essential to address. With mild accommodations, these students can be successful in college and can pursue technical and professional careers. It is important that colleges and universities in Qatar provide the appropriate opportunities for these students. These studentsare part of the future of Qatarand it is important that their potential neither be underestimated nor wasted
