After the success of 2003's Innovations in Education, the second of Qatar Foundation's Symposium Series has been a great success.

Innovations in Education 2006: TECHNOLOGY, EMPOWERMENT AND EDUCATION.

The second symposium in this groundbreaking series hosted by Qatar Foundation brought teachers from across the Arab world together with researchers, experts and activists from Europe, Australia, US, South America and Asia in a series of panels, debates, case studies, workshops and taskforces.

The main objectives of Innovations in Education 2006 explored initiatives concerning access to technology and democratic participation and considered the presentation of science and technological education in a manner that promotes democratic reasoning.

UNESCO, a key participant in the second symposium, highlighted various programs such as its Education for All initiative, marginal and virtual communities, gender and technology and science education.

Various institutions from across Qatar Foundation's Education City highlighted the technological underpinnings of this innovative project, and the connections between technology and reform were explored by a variety of health, education, and scientific institutions across Qatar and the Arab world.

Furthermore, international agencies, large and small, focused on the relationships between technology and development and science education and empowerment.
